Audrey Davis

Audrey J. Davis, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:49 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Audrey was a homemaker.  She had worked as a secretary for Dr. Hall and Dr. Stevens.  She had also worked at Westside Drug Store, at the ticket office for the Du Quoin State Fair for twenty years, and at Ed Lee Bookkeeping.  She was a member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ.  She was one of the two oldest living members of the Marshall Browning Hospital Auxiliary and was Vice President for years.

She was born June 21, 1924 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Theodore and Eva (Bowlin) Berg.

She married Galen L. Davis on August 9, 1942 at the E and R Church in Du Quoin and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin; one daughter, Gail Higgerson of Du Quoin; two grandchildren, Nathan Higgerson and wife Carrie of Du Quoin and Leah Anderson and husband Shane of St. Peters, Mo.; and four great grandchildren, Brady Anderson, Grant Higgerson, Claire Higgerson, and Lydia Higgerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Eula Linzee.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 12, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bill Causer and Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Memorials may be made to the Marshall Browning Hospital Auxiliary or St. Johns United Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.
